Mombasa Island with it's blend of ancient and modern buildings is said to be the oldest town in East Africa. A comprehensive tour of the island will include the Fort Jesus, built by the Portuguese in 1593, guarding the entrance to the Old Harbour. It still stands today as a historical museum holding a fascinating collection of historic artifacts.
